Cybercrime is a criminal activity using digital technology to carry out attacks. This might include stealing and selling data, blackmailing businesses or individuals, identity theft, phishing (fraudulent emails) and ransomware (malicious software denying users access to their own technology).
Ransomware is the greatest serious and organised cybercrime threat. Attacks can have a significant impact due to financial, data and service losses. But the NCA is not backing down - we've been turning the tables on criminals by using the technology they rely on to identify and stop them.
If you are a victim of a cybercrime or a ransomware attack, please report it to Action Fraud. It enables us to help you and the more reports we get, the more we can help other people when they're victims too.
